Your Madrid villa: a dream home in the capital

“De Madrid al cielo!” (from Madrid to heaven), or so say the Madrileños, meaning there’s simply nothing better in between the two. Madrid has got so much more to offer than the busy city centre from lush natural parks to mountain ranges (where you can even ski!)

While you might not have the beaches and sea views of the costas, Madrid more than makes up for it with cultural activities, nightlife and, of course, world-class gastronomy. Consider land in nearby Alcalá de Henare – birthplace of famed writer Miguel de Cervantes – for a home in the country just a stone’s throw from Madrid.

Buying land in Madrid: Where to look

Eco Vida Homes is happy to help you make a shortlist of plots of land for sale in Madrid so you can see a variety of different options, whether you want to be close to the hustle and bustle of the city, or you prefer a more tranquil setting your your home build.

Of course, you’re not going to find land to build a house in the city centre, but the greater Madrid area isn’t as built up as other metropolises like London or New York.

Consider Puerta de Hierro, which is close to the university and boasts an exclusive golf club, or try a little further out in Majadahonda, which has an overground train that’ll take you straight into the city.

Choose an architect that can truly realise your vision

Those looking to a build a home in Madrid will be spoilt for choice for great architects. But this is your project and you want to make sure you have a Madrid architect on your team that will listen to you and build a home that complements your lifestyle.

Of course, before you can put your team together to build your home, you’ll need to decide where it’s going. Let Eco Vida Homes show you some plots in the historic town of Toledo, or the walled city of Ávila to the northwest, which at 1130 metres above sea level offers unbeatable views.

Golf courses in and around Madrid

Madrid has more than a few golf courses. The Centro Nacional de Golf in Fuencarral offers 18 competition holes and a golf school if you’re just starting out or need to improve your swing. And Eco Vida Home can’t ignore its sustainable irrigation system which maximises the water use to keep the green even greener.

Olivar De La Hinojosa Golf is actually in the city itself (Campo de las Naciones), so you could easily play a round with friends before meeting up with the family for dinner and drinks.

Madrid: a city steeped in history

Madrid’s rich history is quite literally everywhere you look. The city’s Plaza Mayor (Main Square) is a treat all year round with traditional concerts in the summer and Christmas markets in the winter.

Templo de Debod in Madrid’s Parque del Oeste was a gift to Spain from Egypt after the country saved Abu Simbel’s temples from the construction of the Aswan Dam.

And of course, Madrid’s world-renowned Prado Museum and Reina Sofía National Art Centre always have new exhibitions to discover, as well as classic works from Spain’s most celebrated artists.

Shop till you drop

No trip to the centre of Madrid is complete without splashing some cash on the main street Gran Vía – but there are plenty of other smaller boutiques to explore in the nearby Calle Fuencarral.

More interested in the high-end brands? Look no further than Calle Serrano, which is known for its Golden Mile of outlets including Chanel, Gucci and Manolo Blahnik. Or Las Rozas Village, an outdoor shopping experience where you’ll find Armani, Karen Millen, and Guess, among others.

Madrid natural spots and wildlife

You might be surprised to learn how much natural beauty Madrid is surrounded by. When you’ve had your fill of the bright lights, head off for a hike in Peñalara Natural Park or enjoy the gorgeous waterfalls of the Canencia Ecological Trail.

A short trip to the north of Madrid will bring you to Puerto de Navacerrada, where you can ski, snowboard or simply enjoy the views.

And of course, the city itself has no shortage of scenic parks like El Retiro or the sprawling Casa de Campo, which is actually more like a forest. It’s so big, you might be tempted to take the cable car out to Argüelles for a drink before returning to continue your walk.

With Eco Vida Homes you are in charge of the design. Our job is to make your vision a reality.
